Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad (SO) is nationwide competition. Students compete in 23 events that include earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Science Olympiad is designed to increase a student’s interest in STEM fields and provide recognition for outstanding achievement in team events. Students compete in Science Olympiad with the top teams advancing from Regional to State to National levels.

Eligible counties: San Diego and Imperial. Schools within San Diego and Imperial counties may send up to 6 teams to compete at the San Diego Regional Tournament.

Starting in 2020 season, San Diego Regional will hold Divisions B and C on 2 days. For example, 60 B teams and 40 C teams will compete in one day at one site and the remaining teams (B and C) will compete in another day. For 2020, schools will be assigned to the specific site upon receiving payment of the first team.  Number of teams advancing to State and event and school awards will be based on tournament site per division.
