Welcome to Virginia Science Olympiad Division A

Science Olympiad or "SO" is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers. Science Olympiad competitions are designed to increase a student’s interest in STEM fields and provide recognition for outstanding achievement in team events.

Virginia Science Olympiad Inc (VASO), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a state chapter of the National Science Olympiad. VASO seeks to build interest and excitement in science and technology education in Virginia's students through collaboration and teamwork, hands-on experiences, variety and creativity in topics and skills, and fun and rewarding tournaments. VASO will run its 2022-2023 Division A Science Olympiad tournament in a hybrid model - the written tests will be done virtually on Written Test Day and the building events will be conducted in person.
