Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a nationwide competition. Students compete in 23 events that include earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Science Olympiad is designed to increase a student’s interest in STEM fields and provide recognition for outstanding achievement in team events. Students compete in Science Olympiad with the top teams advancing from Regional to State to National levels.

9/3/20 Registration for Head Coaches Only (One Per Team) for the 2021 Santa Clara County Regional Science Olympiad tournament now open! Volunteer Registration is NOT open.

  • The updated 2021 rules will be available online 9/8/20 at 

  • The National Science Olympiad (NSO) Directors have released a list of ideas for the 2021 Sci Oly tournament season. The list is dependent upon the rules and regulations of each district, region, or State when school re-opens. The update can be found at and has been approved by the NSO insurance company.

  • The Bay Area Science League Board Members have met and decided the Mini SO model of play is best at this point in time and is subject to change as we are closer to tournament date.
