Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad (SO) is nationwide competition. Students compete in 23 events that include earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Science Olympiad is designed to increase a student’s interest in STEM fields and provide recognition for outstanding achievement in team events. Students compete in Science Olympiad with the top teams advancing from Regional to State to National levels.

Eligible counties: San Diego and Imperial. Schools within San Diego and Imperial counties may send up to 6 teams to compete at the San Diego Regional Tournament.







Division A - Grades 3-6

Date: Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025

Registration fees per team: $200 per team
No limit on number of teams per school
Division A rules are not changing from 2024 to 2025. We will use 2024 Elementary Rules Manual for the 2025 season

School-Provided Volunteer Requirements

Division A schools are required to provide one volunteer (adult or college student) per team for the entire day.
Division B schools are required to provide one volunteer (adult or college student) per team, except schools sending at least 5 teams. Schools sending at least 5 teams are required to provide 8 proctors.
Division C schools are required to provide one volunteer (adult or college student) per team, except schools sending at least 5 teams. Schools sending at least 5 teams are required to provide 6 proctors.
