Battle of the States Science Olympiad Invitational Registration
Divisions B (grades 6-9) & C (grades 9-12)
Thank you for your interest in the Battle of the States tournament!
This tournament is only open to schools in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Team registration is open, and will remain open through February 25th. New teams can join at any time!
Registration Schedule
Registration will remain open throughout the tournament as long as the team number remains below the limit of 200 teams. To guarantee participation in each session, a team must register at least 3 days prior to the start date; however, we will try our best to add teams during sessions as logistics allow. If you would like to register during a session, please reach out to ben@miscioly.org to see if your team may still join.
Payment Information
Price is $5.00 plus PayPal fees.
Only PayPal is accepted as a payment method.
What is included in the fee:
- Access to events offered in December 2023, January 2024, and February 2024. Note that not all events may be offered, and certain events have a cap on the number of teams which may participate, primarily build and lab events. The current schedule and team limits are on the front page of the website.
- For each event a Champion State and Runner-Up state will be determined, and ribbons will be awarded to the top teams from those two states. Ribbons and shipping are included in the registration price.
What is not included in the fee:
- Medals for individual event rankings are not included in the registration price. This change was made to keep registration costs as low as possible. Medals will be available for purchase for places up to 10th place in each event.
Teams are not officially registered until registration fees are received and processed.
Team Limits
- There is a limit of 3 teams per school. Per the National Policy, all teams and alternate teams must be registered with your State organization. (For example, if you want to enter 2 teams, you must have your main team and an alternate team registered with your state.)
How to Register
- Log in
- Click on "Register your school" above
- Click on Pay Member Fees (system will ask you to add teams if you have done so already)
- System will display the total registration fees and the available payment methods. Complete the payment through PayPal.
Team Numbers
- Many features of the tournament website are only available once your team has been assigned a team number.
- Team numbers will be assigned on a daily basis for newly registered teams. If your team has paid but not been assigned a team number for 24 hours, e-mail ben@miscioly.org to get set up.
