Palatine Invitational Tournament Updates

Monday, October 5, 2020 @ 6:50 PM

This is a copy of the email that was sent this same evening.

Coaches,

You are receiving this e-mail because you signed up your Science Olympiad team(s) to participate in the Palatine High School Science Olympiad Invitational Tournament set for Saturday, November 21.  Preparations are well underway, and events assignments have been completed.

Please e-mail me back right away to let me know you received this e-mail and saw what you have been assigned.  I dread the thought that we all wake up on Saturday, November 21 and someone did not prepare an event because they never got this e-mail.  By e-mailing me back right away, I will know that all of the events are covered, and I can sleep soundly at night.

Please review the table below to see to what event your school has been assigned.

Note: The helper schools are to assist in all aspects of creating, proctoring and/or grading the event.  The Primary School should act as the coordinator for the experience.

Each school should reach out to each other to coordinate their efforts.

If you have concerns regarding the assignments, please let me know immediately.

While planning your event please keep in mind that the test will be given through scilympiad.com and the students will have access to a chat window to chit chat with each other.  However, I would expect that students will also use their cell phones to communicate with each other.  Also, since there is no way to precent cheating please write the test so that it can’t be easily googled.

Rob Heitz already has the vents assigned in scilympiad.com so you can go in and start exploring the test creation environment.  If you are interested, I will provide a short introduction to test creation in scilympiad.com on Tuesday, October 13 via Zoom at 5:00 PM Central time.
