Science Olympiad is a nationwide competition. Students compete in 23 events that include earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Science Olympiad is designed to increase a student’s interest in STEM fields and provide recognition for outstanding achievement in team events. Students compete in Science Olympiad with the top teams advancing from Regional to State to National levels.
Mount Vernon Science Olympiad 2nd Annual Satellite Tournament

Divisions B (grades 6-9) & C (grades 9-12)
We have run an in-person tournament with Cornell College for 7 years.
Last year we hosted a satellite tournament the same week as our in-person tournament.
Ribbons will be mailed to the event winners (1st-6th place); this may change depending on the number of registered teams.
- To compete, the following requirements must be met:
- Register Online (see below for details). One email per division - Registration opens on Monday, October 5th.
- Registration fee - $100 per team + event supervisor/volunteer (see payment method below)
- In addition to the registration fee, you must provide an event supervisor (write an academic event test or score a building event) OR an event volunteer (score & rank the event). If you do not provide a volunteer, you must pay an extra $50 per school registered.
- Teams are not officially registered until registration fees are received and processed.

- Limit of 4 teams per school
Registration opens on Monday, October 5th.Online registration is required, especially because it includes online functions such as submitting team names, self-scheduling event sign-ups, and online scoring.Once registered, Head Coaches or designated Co-Head Coaches may add additional team members to assist with team management.
