Welcome to the 2nd Annual Troy HS Science Olympiad Div B Invitational. Our students are excited to welcome you to our invitational and our Campus and to challenge your students with their tests. Our invitational is scheduled early in the year with the intention of giving your teams a chance to sharpen their skills leading into your local regional competitions.  Our students have competed at the highest level and have lots of experience with tests at all levels it is our goal to create a challenging and fun tune-up for your teams.  We are very excited to host your team.

 

Important information regarding our tournament on Saturday, Dec 4, 2021. 

 

  1. Our tournament will be powered by Scilympiad.  The link to our Scilympiad page is https://scilympiad.com/ca-troy
  2. Registration will open on 08/15/2021 at 8AM PST
  3. Registration fee is $185/team and can be paid online via paypal or a check can be sent to:

  1. We plan to run all 23 division B events see below schedule.
  2. All tests will be following Regional level rules
  3. Registering with your State: In following National Science Olympiad’s membership policy, teams participating in Invitationals must be a registered member of the state and national Science Olympiad program. In order for your team to participate at the Invitational, your team must be registered with your State Organization at least two weeks prior to the Invitational.
  4. All persons on campus must wear a mask covering there nose and mouth while inside any building on campus
  5. Due to current Orange County Limitations on inside gatherings the awards ceremony will be limited to 20 persons per team
  6. Self-Scheduled event signups will open on Monday Nov 15th at 3:00 PM

  2. Self-Scheduled event sign-ups will be open starting tomorrow Monday Nov 15th at 3:00 PM at https://scilympiad.com/ca-troy/Sched/SelfSignup
  3. If you haven’t already done so you need to have your parents electronically sign a release for each student and for themselves if they will be on campus you can obtain the link to send them by logging on and going here. https://scilympiad.com/ca-troy/ForHcs/Releases note the link on that page is specific to you teams
  4. You can now start assigning students to teams and to events. Although we won’t be using scilympiad to take tests we still are requiring you to submit rosters through scilympiad and assign students to events that way we will know which teams plan to compete in which events.
  5. Schedules have been set in scilympiad so You can also view your teams specific events schedule here: https://scilympiad.com/ca-troy/Sched/ViewSchedTBs
  6. As a reminder due to Covid restrictions on indoor gatherings in Orange County we will be limiting entrance to the awards ceremony to 20 individuals per team.
    1. We are working on arranging for the awards to be live-streamed so parents or others who are not able to be in the gym will be able to watch

Science Olympiad Coaches,

 

The Troy Invitational is only a week away. Here are some important reminders and some updates.

 

  1. Every Student and adult on campus needs to have a waiver electronically signed in scilympiad (Only about half of the schools have started submitting) please take care of this asap as your students will not be allowed to compete without a signed-waiver https://scilympiad.com/ca-troy/ForHcs/Releases  
  2. Only about 2/3 of teams have signed up for self-scheduled build event slots you have until 7 AM on Thursday morning 12/2 to do so https://scilympiad.com/ca-troy/Sched/SelfSignup                     
    1. Important reminder for Sounds of Music all participants must self-schedule the instrument testing portion it will not take place during the same timeslot as the exam
  3. Very Important Rule Clarifications:
    1. For our tournament we will be following the gold standard traditional in-person rules as far as resources and will only be allowing what is specifically allowed in the rules for each event (NO COVID MODIIFCATIONS) That means if the rules state a binder only 1 binder will be allowed per team and if the rules state a single page cheat sheet only 1 single page cheat sheet will be allowed per team
    2. We will be following Regionals level rules for all events 
  4. Engineering events location details:
    1. Ping Pong Parachute Gym Ceiling Height Highest point approx. 27 ft there is a beam at approx. 22 ft  
    2. Electric Wright stuff Gym 22 ft to beams highest point 27 ft
    3. Storm the Castle Hallway approx. 20 feet wide approx. 100 ft long approx. 12 ft high
  5. Campus will open at 7 AM
    1. Team registration will begin at 7:15 AM
    2. Impounds for Mousetrap Vehicle and Storm The Castle will begin at 7:15
  6. Attached is a campus map
    1. Event rooms are marked in Green
    2. You are welcome to setup your team areas anywhere on campus as long as it is at least 75 feet away from the entrance to any event room
    3. You may bring any food you want for your team but No Open Flames Allowed
    4. Ez-ups need to be weighted down on each corner
    5. Please keep all your trash in trash bags and throw away before you leave campus
  7. Awards ceremony will begin at 5 PM
    1. Due to covid restrictions only 20 wrist bands will be issued to each team for entrance into the awards ceremony
    2. The ceremony will be live-streamed the link will be on our scilympiad homepage
