Science Olympiad

Welcome to the  2022 Gopher Invitational! We will be hosting an in-person tournament on January 8th, 2022 at the campus of the University of Minnesota.

Teams will compete in 23 National Science Olympiad events. Teams are not required to supply test writers or event supervisors as the Minnesota Science Olympiad Alumni will be running all events, allowing coaches the opportunity to manage their own teams without the stress of supervising and scoring an event during competition! As one of the few Division B invitational tournaments in Minnesota, this is a great opportunity to jump-start preparations for Regionals and State competition!

Individual medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event, and team trophies will be awarded to the top three finishing teams.

The cost for participating in the tournament is $60 per team, which will be used to offset costs of awards and facilities fees. If this is a hardship for any team, they are asked to contact Nolan Smith, co-tournament director, at mnsoalum@umn.edu. Interested teams are asked to complete the online registration form (link below). We will email you an invoice upon your registration. After this, please mail a check using the instructions provided in the invoice by the registration deadline of December 31, 2021. Any interested teams that register after the deadline will be subject to a $15 late fee. Minnesota Science Olympiad Alumni reserve the right to restrict registration based on available space. Admission will be based on a first-come, first-serve basis until a cap of 30 teams is reached. That being said, we do encourage all schools to register as many teams as they are able.
