Need advice on entering frequency table for Codebusters

Mathjax isn't rendering matrices, tables are limited to 10 columns (I'm needing 30 columns), and trying to paste in an image leads to an error indicating a question is limited to 80 characters. What else might I try besides resorting to ASCII art?

I was able to hack the HTML but some test creators wouldn't know how to do this.

Noel,

Good for you. The HTML option allows more custom tables and stylings. Codebusters is a very specialized event. We're working with the CB Event Supervisor to either have the import/export feature where you create a CB test in his Codebusters website, export it to a file and import it to Scilympiad OR to have a built-in Frequency table which will generate the table automatically. We hope to have one of these options available in a week or so.

I was able to just take a screenshot from the TOEBES output and upload into a question for codebuster.

I'm finding pasting images sometimes blows past the size limit for questions.

Pasting the image directly into the question carries so many attributes from the original. For this release of Scilympiad, please save the image into a PNG or JPG file then use the insert image icon on the editor toolbar to insert the image file. The system will scale down the image to fit. In the next release, Scilympiad may include the ability to paste image directly.

Frequency table has been added to the Cryptography question type. Simply add [FREQUENCY] to the question editor. It will be replaced with the frequency table which students can use as workspace where they can type in letters.

Thanks, this is useful.

Can other shortcuts be added for the other tables as well?

Tangentially, and this may not be the forum for this discussion, providing the tables relevant to the question is extra information usually not provided in written Codebusters tests (eg providing the reverse substitution table for an Atbash question essentially tells the students the necessary substitution whereas in the written test, since all tables are provided altogether, students must know which substitution table to use for Atbash).

Tips: right click, you can perform more tasks, such as inserting emoji, checking spelling, etc. If you copy text from Word or other sources, make sure to 'Paste as plain text' after right-clicking, otherwise, lots of unnecessary formatting attributes will be imported.
