I appreciate the value of these features, but this would add an extra layer of complexity that I'd like to avoid for our invitational participants. Can I as a TD elect to not require these - and is so, how do I do this? Can these options be hidden in the Roster view for coaches? (Both the buttons and the columns.)

This is the first request we receive of this kind. We do not have that option to hide the button and column. You can edit your home page to tell coaches that they are not required to perform those steps. I will add the option to hide in future releases.
